Datero foundations main operation area is Ostrobothnia. Its members are also foundations, for example The Physically Handicapped Rehab Centres and public foundations like health care centres and communities. Datero's main funding comes from RAY (Finland's Slot Machine Association). Singular grants are received from (private) institutions and trusts.
Ambition
Datero strives to increase the awareness and the use of computer programs aimed at rehabilitation and special needs teaching. This is realised by establishing program loaning points at local libraries. Datero supports the loaning and the usage of the programs by offering material, program introductions and courses.
Benefits
- The programs can be loaned from the library with a library card in the same manner as any other material. Programs can also be loaned from other libraries.
- This makes it possible for the user to take advantage of expertly chosen computer programs that are not sold in retail stores. There is also access to more programs than when financed the programs for him to keep or when self purchased.
- Anybody can loan the programs, as lending doesn't require a diagnosis or a referral, and free lending saves the expenses of lenders as well as the community.
- The professional staff have a chance to enhance their capabilities within computer assisted rehabilitation, by familiarising themselves with the programs, and by taking part in training before releasing them to public lending. This gives the Datero staff the position to teach and explain programs to the users. This means that schools and other operators have a possibility to familiarise themselves with the programs before acquiring them, or use the lended programs to teaching.
